In the news: "Israeli security Cabinet OKs retaliation". For the record I just want to say that I think any kind of state-sponsored retalitation is insanity. If somebody does criminal acts and blows buildings up and kills other people, by all means, bring the guilty people to justice. But when the actions are done by individuals and particular groups, it makes absolutely no sense to go and bomb some different people, and end up killing a bunch of kids who had nothing to do with it, just to make a point, and because they're considered part of the same ethnic group. I.e. it makes no sense for Israel to go and bomb Palestinian police stations whenever somebody blows themselves up in a crowded area in Israel. In the first place you can't really "retaliate" against people who already committed suicide. And you can't assume that you're dealing with an enemy like yourself, who orders all the violence from the highest state level.

It is hard to drop my idea that i have come to conclude along the way that the jewish race of man are one of the more intelligent manifestation of the mess called human. If this is the only solution they can come up with, than the obvious, that this experiment of evolution has failed miserably. There is still some hope though that those of the race who are wearing the real scrolls tied to their forehad instead of matchboxes, will be able to save the "days of futures passed".

I couldn't agree more, Ming. Who will posterity remembers as Israel and Palestine true heroes? Rabin and Sadate or Sharon and sheik Yassine? Uncertain hope or guaranteed anguish? Is that even a question?

Talking of which, I'd like to avail myself of this opportunity to recommend a movie called "Promises" by B. Z. Goldberg and Justine Shapiro which paints a wrenching and intimate portrait of the children (Jews and Arabs) of Jerusalem---the world needs more movies like that.

And, hey, Zendancer, it's not "the Jewish race." It's the influence of the Likud party and the "Sharonistas" (and ultra-nationalists like Yismael Beitenu), both in Israel and also very much here at home too I am afraid! Their voice is not the voice of the Israeli people as a whole and certainly not of the Jewish race. There are other voices both here and abroad AND in Israel; Yosi Beilin (an Israeli) and Yasser Abed Rabbo (a Palestinian) are two such examples.

A suicide bomber is not born. A suicide bomber is made. It takes a certain infrastructure to create a suicide bomber, a location to create the atmosphere of paradise, some ambiance. a place to act out their gruesome psychodramas, "remember to smile." I think suicide bombing is wrong. It is never right. It is always wrong. The ones who maintain the incubator of suicide bombers, those who conduct the training and indoctrination, they are evil. It takes practice to be a suicide bomber. It is not something you do off the top of your head. A lot of hate is motivation. That motivation is instilled in the education process. You only get to be a suicide bomber once. So it has to go right the first time. It takes a group to produce a suicide bomber. First they are grown in a cauldron of hate, then they are selected for zeal, then they are indoctrinated, experience paradise, trained, sent to a holding area, escorted to a pool hall full of kids having fun...you know the rest. Peace.

Yeah, its a whole culture, and takes lots of preparation. So I can certainly see it isn't easy to deal with or solve. It is very difficult to figure out who to fight back at. It very easily becomes a "kill them all" mindset. Genocidal thinking.

There are cool heads in the U.S. and Israel that plan response to counter, deflect and move forward a program of seperation between the combatents There is methodology on both sides. For every action on the ground there is a counter public relations campaign(propaganda). There are alliances opposed to the existence of the country of Israel. Genocide is mass murder and mass disposal of dead bodies. That has not occured nor will it. What is possible and even more horrible is that nuke missles could fly from surrounding countries into Israel and Israel retaliates in brutality
