There are many fun games that techies play with the Google search engine. One self-absorbed game suggested by Steven Johnson, author of the book Emergence is to use Google to see what mind-share you personally appear to have in a certain subject. Like, when he looks up "emergence" he sees 1,450,000 hits, and if he looks up "emergence" together with his name, he sees 5190 hits, which means he has 0.3% mindshare on that word. Well, I can't resist playing that a little bit, being a slight bit self-absorbed. I can't find any one-word words I have much mindshare in. But, hey, if we say "New Civilization" I have 4.1%, which beats out Gorbachev at 1.7%, but not (Alvin and Heidi) Toffler, who have 6.5%. Those guys have all written books with "New Civilization" in the title, in case you didn't know. And I got 3.2% on "World Transformation". Hm, and 0.006% of "wacko".

Whilst I applaud Mr Campbells caapgimn to get supplies and comforts' to the troops in Iraq/Afghanistan etc, to single out the Royal Mail is unfair and inappropriate. As a company we are now in the grip of full competition, but we are not allowed to compete on a level playing field, we HAVE to carry competitors mail at a fraction of the cost that we would charge our customers, thus subsidising private business at our (the taxpayers) expense, if it is a level playing field, surely the likes of TNT, UK Mail etc should be collecting, sorting and delivering their own mail, at their expense, instead of passing the difficult and/or expensive items on to the Royal Mail to deliver at a fraction of the cost. If the Royal Mail is to deliver items free to troops abroad, surely TNT etc should ALSO have to carry these items if asked, for nothing, or is this ANOTHER case of Post Office bashing? We would dearly love to provide the public service we used to, but successive interference by the Govt. and an over zealous and too pawerful watchdog have left us on our knees, an incompetent management and a Govt willing to see us decimated will ensure that in the future, parcels delivered to troops abroad will have to be carried by courier, at outrageous expense purely because there will be no Post Office to carry them. 12 years as a postman have shown me how badly the industry is suffering

Sorry to hear todays news about your dcsieion to step down as Libdem leader. I thought at last we had someone at the top' with some maturety, although age seems to be not regarded as strongly as it might ? When tribe elders' were in charge their society held together better than ours seem to ! You had my vote, although not a strong Libdem man in the past, I can only hope your successor carries on in your footsteps. One day the Media may even be the voice of the true public !!! (but dont hold your breath)Best wishes for your futureJ Marshall
