John Poindexter is the U.S. Federal Information Czar. Not too long ago he was in prison for being an Iran-Contra conspirator. But now he's in charge of gathering information on all Americans. John Gilmore has an excellent demonstration for him of what it means to have your information pried into, as does the SF Weekly.
"The SF Weekly's column by Matt Smith in the Dec 3 issue points out that there may be some information that John M. and Linda Poindexter of 10 Barrington Fare, Rockville, MD, 20850, may be missing in their pursuit of total information awareness. He suggests that people with information to offer should phone +1 301 424 6613 to speak with that corrupt official and his wife. Neighbors Thomas E. Maxwell, 67, at 8 Barringon Fare (+1 301 251 1326), James F. Galvin, 56, at 12 (+1 301 424 0089), and Sherrill V. Stant (nee Knight) at 6, may also lack some information that would be valuable to them in making decisions -- decisions that could affect the basic civil rights of every American."

The SF Weekly article encourages private citizens to make a public display of Poindexter's personal and financial information. Pretty funny.

I believe it is time for our torops to be brought home now. There is no useful purpose for them to remain, thus endangering them further. The Iraqis have made it quite plain that they do not want our torops there, otherwise, why are they still being attacked? Although it must be conceded that the removal of Saddam Hussein was necessary, that job could have been done quietly with a small, specially-trained task force. My son was in the the RAF during the first Gulf War anyone with any intelligence could see then that there would somehow be a follow-up' if the US had anything to do with it! This war in Iraq was an illegal war in the first place, the invasion of Iraq did not fulfil the criteria of what is a Just War in anyone's language or creed. Please let us cut loose from the empty rhetoric of the US administration I hope that, now, our Government can see the folly of such a mistaken alliance.Let us get all our 5,000 Service Personnel home by Christmas so they may be reunited with their families!

4:23 pm The problem I see with this, is polepe try to force a back link onto a corporate website, which I have seen on a number of computer sale sites. These companies usually pride themselves on the work they have achieved, and don't need another designer taking credit for their website (even if (s)he HAS made it. It can look bad for them.I personally wait until the employer asks about the footer, and if they say I can then I do, but I usually put myself on an affiliate page near the bottom or something along those lines. This way, you can be recommended by word of mouth instead of a huge DESIGNED BY label. I also find if polepe see that, they don't want to hire you as they are unsure as to whether you will try and force it onto the bottom of their site. These are mostly my opinions, but it's what I've seen in the past.
