A 1,000m tall tower is planned as part of a huge 200MW solar power plant in the Australian outback. The air under a 4 mile diameter circle of glass would be heated by the sun, and the heat would rise up into the tower where turbines would convert it into electricity. It is planned to be completed in 2006, at a cost of A$1b and would be by far the tallest free-standing structure in the world.

Your part of a very large community of people with misinformation on the net. a very large stupid community. and the even more stupid people are the ones who beleive you. Look at other sites about this solar tower ...you'r all saying diffrent things.

The tower, to be built near the Victorian rural city of Mildura,

The tower would stand atop a transparent solar collector measuring seven kilometres in diameter.

The tower would be the equivalent of a 20 megawatt power station

it says that the tower wil be finnisht by 2006
and is it ? or is it smaller of give me an update
and if its finnischt could some one send me a real life picture

first heard about tower in 2005 while holidaying out west is the tower finished as will be hoidaying again later this month
