Telltale Weekly offers audio books online for less than a dollar, and without stupid copy protection schemes. They have very few titles so far, but it looks promising.

haven't yet visited the site, but what do you mean by saying free? they're obviously not free in terms of money; are they free in terms of legal license used?

Oops, sorry, I had misread the thing in the first place, in my excitement about finding what I thought was a free resource. I corrected it in the text when I read closer, but forgot the heading. I'm changing it now.
