Or he writes, at least. Slashdot:
"The army's explanation of weather balloons in the Roswell, New Mexico incident 60 years ago has been dealt a serious public relations blow. Late Army Lt. Walter Haut had signed a sealed affidavit prior to his death last year asserting that he had witnessed the wreckage of an egg-shaped craft and its extraterrestrial crew while working at the Roswell Army Air Field. An article at News.com.au reviews how Haut had worked as public relations officer for the Roswell base and was involved in the original weather balloon explanation of events at the time. This recent evidence would seem to confirm speculation that egg-shaped saucers are notoriously difficult to fly safely at low altitude."
news.com.au:
Lieutenant Walter Haut was the public relations officer at the base in 1947 and was the man who issued the original and subsequent press releases after the crash on the orders of the base commander, Colonel William Blanchard.

Haut died last year but left a sworn affidavit to be opened only after his death.

Last week, the text was released and asserts that the weather balloon claim was a cover story and that the real object had been recovered by the military and stored in a hangar.

He described seeing not just the craft, but alien bodies.

He wasn't the first Roswell witness to talk about alien bodies.

Local undertaker Glenn Dennis had long claimed that he was contacted by authorities at Roswell shortly after the crash and asked to provide a number of child-sized coffins.

When he arrived at the base, he was apparently told by a nurse (who later disappeared) that a UFO had crashed and that small humanoid extraterrestrials had been recovered.

But Haut is the only one of the original participants to claim to have seen alien bodies.

Haut's affidavit talks about a high-level meeting he attended with base commander Col William Blanchard and the Commander of the Eighth Army Air Force, General Roger Ramey.

Haut states that at this meeting, pieces of wreckage were handed around for participants to touch, with nobody able to identify the material.

He says the press release was issued because locals were already aware of the crash site, but in fact there had been a second crash site, where more debris from the craft had fallen.

The plan was that an announcement acknowledging the first site, which had been discovered by a farmer, would divert attention from the second and more important location.

Haut also spoke about a clean-up operation, where for months afterwards military personnel scoured both crash sites searching for all remaining pieces of debris, removing them and erasing all signs that anything unusual had occurred.

This ties in with claims made by locals that debris collected as souvenirs was seized by the military.

Haut then tells how Colonel Blanchard took him to "Building 84" - one of the hangars at Roswell - and showed him the craft itself.

He describes a metallic egg-shaped object around 3.6m-4.5m in length and around 1.8m wide.

He said he saw no windows, wings, tail, landing gear or any other feature.
Ah, everybody knows that's a weather balloon. Because that's what the government told us it was, after they double-checked it, and of course they wouldn't lie. Conform, Consume, Obey!

3 Jul 2007 @ 07:27 by Gunnar Langemark @83.90.206.38 : a thrill
Ever since my mother - Merete Kruuse (a SCI FI buff and author of several short stories (Dame i rød rumdragt - Stig Vendelkærs forlag) - took me to "Dan Con" and to conferences on UFO etc. in the early seventies, I have occationally taken interest in such subjects.
So I find it very reasuring, that the Rockwell incident is not going to go away anytime soon.
So what if "they" found some "aliens" in a crashed spacecraft? They probably did, and we will only know for sure the day "they" understand fully what they found. Because it is the insecurity of not knowing that haunts "them". If you don't know - then you're not in control, and when you're not in control, you will feel your power threatened. And the military is a power centric organization. The military will have no problem at all with disclosure - the day they understand what they found.
On another note: Why do we keep talking about aliens from outer space? That is antropocentric in a peculiar way. It seems to me that it takes a Cartesian turn that way - so to speak. I mean - the notion of travelling tens and hundreds of light years in a space craft is a far fetched as the notion of traveling in time. And if those two are equally probable - then I'd go with those saying that the aliens are so antropomorphic, that they probably are just that: humans. Humans from another time that is. It really rhymes well with the big head, receding chin, two eyes, ears, a nose and a mouth - and the positioning of those. And it also fits with having two arms, with hands and fingers, and two legs with feet. Man - who would invent such an anatomy twice - and not get bored? Those are humans!
Just my 2c.

Oh, your mother is Merete Kruuse, very cool! I've read "Dame i rød rumdragt". I read all scifi I could find in the library when I was a teenager.

You're right, the military probably doesn't know what the hell to do with stuff like that. They're freaked out, so they just try to keep it all secret.

And why do those guys always look sort of humanoid? Some people might of course say it is because they're a product of our subconscious, so we imagine them like that. But I think most people would imagine real aliens as some kind of bug-eyed monsters, green with 6 arms. And nobody seems to be seeing any of those. So, yes, maybe they're just a type of humans from elsewhere in space and time

year old tech, that probably evolved right here on this planet, we see our own future, and as we already are melding man and machine, this where we are headed, just as geneticly modifiyed foods will one day alter our DNA, so will our tech, just as within man right now, bachtirias and other criters inhabit our bodies, one day our nano tech will do the same, whether by accident or innoculation to fight some dealy desises. Already we know there are little machines that sort and connect our DNA and still we look at these bio machines that run our bodies, as something that evolved to do such jobs, we don't see that device that splits our DNA and devides cells as a device.

I also always wonder why these extraterrestrials always are pictured as more or less as humanoids. Head, 4-6 arm-legs - some with the skeleton parts hidden under muscles some over the muscles, food in at the front, .... out of the other end, an audio-visio-tactile sensorial system, male-female. Design finished. What else. All living beings are like that except a few worms and such, right? Wrong!

There are so many other workable design patterns of relatively intelligent living beings - at least intelligent enough to figure out tactics how to survive the next day. And you don't have to go far to get to see them - actually you will find masses strange creatures that do not fit the above description in the environment that covers about 2/3 of this planet: The Sea. Octopusses don't fit, crabs don't, not even a huge number of closer relatives, the fish don't. Not even our little friend Nemo, because (s)he doesn't even know if he is going to be male or female the day he enters this world. That is decided later.

But who cares? That all takes place under water where most of us do not go regularly. What influence should that have on life on other planets?

Of course the extraterrestrials look more or less like us.

Now, honestly, I don't know what they found there, but it seems to be pretty sure that experimental aircrafts were being tested in that very, very top secret area. And some of them were probably such flops that it is still too embarrasing to publish any info about them. Especially because people got killed in them and some of their relatives are probably still around.

I am not saying there were no extraterrestrials there - but some of the proof that has been displayed was bogus. One thing I once saw were photos of a flying saucer like aircraft - I have seen illustrations of similar ones in old issues of Popular Mecanics - the aircraft burned out. A structure on the pilots seat, which they claimed were an almost carbonized ET with a big head, might as well have been a human, still with his helmet on. When one looked closely, one cold find a metal structure on the clothing with the shape of a pair of Ray-Ban sun-glasses. And at various places one could see bolts with hexagon shaped heads, holding the thing together. I suppose nobody found that strange because they could not imagina any other type of bolts, at the time. Who still can't should go to a hardware store today.

These are just a couple of examples.

So if we really want to know about extraterrestrials, I'd say we have a lot of cleaning up to do: Sort all the "proofs" out that aren't any. Throw all away which just may be pure imagination or just constructed to sell newspapers. And then lets have a look at what we have left. Even if it is something that we just do not understand or can't explain, that might be very interesting.

Hi,

I stumbled across this while I was looking for something else.

It's a document that I don't know the origins of, but it's directed to Central Intelligence group, Washington DC

whats strange to me, that after the roswell incident, it seems that our techno ability exploded. until then we were struggling to make a safe coffee pot. was it a fluke that sightings started after the testing of atomic energy? I think, they were coming to warn us, and got shot down by the gov. We used and are still using new techno. from there craft.

IT ALWAYS GETS ME WHEN PEOPLE WITH ZERO SCIENCE DEGREES HAVE "OPINIONS". GUNNAR (FIRST POSTING ABOVE), WHERE THE HECK DID YOU GET THAT LONG DISTANCE SPACE TRAVEL IS NOT POSSIBLE?!? MATHEMATICALLY SPEAKING, WE'VE FIGURED OUT EXACTLY HOW IT IS POSSIBLE - NO POINT IN GOING INTO DETAILS HERE SINCE I'D HAVE TO DUMB IT OUT TO MAKE IT UNDERSTANDABLE AND I SUCK AT THAT... (LET'S JUST SAY THAT WE GOT OUR INSPIRATION FROM OBSERVING BINARY SYSTEMS MADE OF WHITE DWARVES, NEUTRON STARS OR BLACK HOLES.) MOREOVER, HUMANS ARE THE SUPERIOR SPECIES ON EARTH - AND WOULD MOST LIKELY BE ON OTHER WORLDS AS WELL, READ UP ON EXOBIOLOGY - NOT JUST BECAUSE OF THE SIZE AND STRUCTURE OF OUR BRAINS, BUT ALSO PRECISELY BECAUSE THE HUMAN BODY, WITH ITS 2 LEGS TO MOVE AROUND (SPEED NOT NECESSARY) AND 2 ARMS TO MOVE OBJECTS AND DO DETAILED WORK (OPPOSABLE THUMB AND ARTICULATED FINGERS) WE CAN ACCOMPLISH MORE THAN OTHER SPECIES.

10 May 2010 @ 19:04 by Gunnar @83.90.206.38 : Not possible?
@Sophie. Where the heck did you get the idea that I don't think it's possible to do long distance space travel? I just said that it's as far fetched an idea as time travel. It may not even be THAT far fetched.
It always gets me when people with no reading skills YELL at other people.

How come the aliens look JUST LIKE how we beelive they look like? Coincidence? If the aliens were smart enough to come to our planet and kidnap those people, they would know that we had weapons and they whould bring theirs for sure. Sure true emotions, but thats what makes it beeliveable. Same with the whole burthday-party thing. Come on guys, does aliens really look like their made out of plastic ?
