"How do we come together in order to touch,
or be touched by, the intelligence we need?"
—Jacob Needleman

Tom Atlee mentioned this fabulous resource: Centered on the Edge: Mapping a Field of Collective Intelligence and Spiritual Wisdom. Be sure to click on the Continue button in the intro to get to the actual material.

A team of spiritually oriented dialogue experts interviewed a lot of people and analyzed the results and came up with a number of patterns and principles that appear to be keys to the phenomenon of how resonant intelligence emerges in groups.

For example, one of the patterns is, in brief, what they call "Quickening", described like this:

"People speak of a moment when the "magic" happens, a moment of awakening, deepening, quickening, when they seem to transcend their egos or their personalities. They sense a world unseen, unheard, yet truly more than anything they've experienced before."

They cover many other things, like:
Synchronicity, Surprise, Mystery, Alchemy, Storytelling, Movement of the Whole, Love, Facing the Darkness, Silence, Connectedness, Re-membering, Synergy, Serving Wholeness, Witnessing, and more.

... yes, the 'quickening' is when some inner, deeper Mind that is thinking through the group's parts, get's activated... something more, something yes, whole, get's it's synapses awoken... it is in part like a birth, is it not? The collective cells collaborate and new neural pathways are created in a new collective mind....

I'm very interested in that phenomenon. Might even be what NCN is pretty much all about. Connecting with how it can happen that a group of people suddenly resonate, and the group becomes smarter than any one of these people were.

Yes indeed a 'quickening' and an 'awakening' to possibilities beyond the limited thinking and acting of individual entities. the ego gets in the way when it insists on staying in charge. Life lived from the heart, opened to the unfolding and emerging of our inherent oneness, this is that magic moment grasped. And I suspect there is a catalyst for the 'quickening' you speak of and maybe it is frustration and a realisation that non of this stuff really matters. Only the integrated wisdom that we as spirit voyagers accumulate, this is of value. It may come from conflict resolution or from a beautiful picture (words or colours) or from something entirely different. The heart feels lighter when this happens! I will continue to drop by from time to time and enjoy the community and the interactions that I find myself drawn to. It is a great meeting place and must have had some interesting phases in its his-story. But sensing the integrity of the ming I say our-story!! Goddess bless us and bring de light to this darkened path way, waking up to our new potentials is a painful process.
