I wonder if this says anything about the encoding of words by the brain in terms of reading internal speech. For example, would the thing that the activity represents be deducible from the first and last part?

It reminds me of the advice for giving a good speech. First you tell them what you're going to tell them, then you tell it to them, and then you tell them what you just told them. The frame of the first and last part makes it much easier to put the more wordy stuff in context. That's a different thing, of course, but it does point out that we better will know what something is if the borders or frames of it will give us a very good hint.
